Lost & Found: Incorporating Keys into Your Jewelry Designs
Keys, keys and more keys! Do you love designing with keys as much as I do? Anything from old skeleton keys found at a flea market, to Vintaj Natural Brass, Arte Metal & Artisan Copper keys – I can’t get enough! Inspired by our Flea Market Finds theme, I wanted to share some designs featuring a variety of keys. Vintage Escape This bracelet is so much fun! I picked up this cool leather cuff at the Pec Thing flea market last year. It originally held a broken and cracked watch face. For $1, I was able to remove the watch face and clean up the leather with soap, water and an old tooth brush to get into all the grooves behind the buckles, etc… I cut a large rectangle from a 3×3 Altered Blank Canvas , flattened a Garden Trellis Filigree and riveted those pieces together. Hammered 15mm Arte Metal Jump Rings were attached to the leather straps, and wire secures the key to the filigree and leather.
