For $1, I was able to remove the watch face and clean up the leather with soap, water and an old tooth brush to get into all the grooves behind the buckles, etc… I cut a large rectangle from a 3×3 Altered Blank Canvas , flattened a Garden Trellis Filigree and riveted those pieces together. Hammered 15mm Arte Metal Jump Rings were attached to the leather straps, and wire secures the key to the filigree and leather.

I recently got a tip about the beautiful work of London designer Sare Green. Her Etsy shop, Miss Fluff , is filled with her hand-cut, whimsical leather jewelry creations. Sare learned sewing at an early age from her mother and grandmother, and later studied at the London College of Fashion, specializing in leatherwork. I think her degree has paid off, because her work is gorgeous! She designs each piece first on a paper stencil which she then cuts out, only to repeat the whole process afterward with leather to create a finished ready-to-wear product!
